Welcome to My Race In Orange Page!
It means a lot to me that you would take the time to visit my fund-raising page. I hope you can support me and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, a volunteer-driven, non-profit organization that is dedicated to finding treatments and cures for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), that is for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improving the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.
I'm relatively new to triathlons, having done my first one on November 4, 2017 and my first fund-raising one for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation on May 6, 2018. I plan to do my next one on August 25 where I will be participating in the Lake Tahoe Triathlon in hopes of meeting my fund-raising goal of $2,500 for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. This triathlon--which includes a 500 meter swim, 10 mile bike, and 2 mile run--will be a challenging one because the air is much thinner in Lake Tahoe than in my home town of Sunnyvale and not that long ago I was severely anemic.
Having IBD, I know all too well how debilitating it can be. I ended up being housebound/bedridden for a year in 2015-2016 from a severe ulcerative colitis flareup and then housebound/bedridden again six months later for another half year in the first half of 2017 after getting extra-intestinal systemic inflammation of the muscles, tendons, joints, right eye, and kidneys, which was associated with my ulcerative colitis. It turns out that people with IBD have a higher risk of developing other autoimmune diseases, in particular arthritis, uveitis (inflammation of the eyes), and nephritis (inflammation of the kidneys). I'm doing much better now and have made the commitment to raise a minimum of $2,500.00 to help improve the quality of life of others like me with IBD.
