Welcome to the second annual Take Steps walk for the CCFA! This year's walk will take place on April 24, 2010 at Cranes Roost Park in Altamone Springs.  Last year my fundraising goal was $750.00, and I thought that was going to be hard considering the trying economic times.  So imagine my surprise when the total was $1905.00!  I have all of you to thank for that.  I am very fortunate to have the support of my family and friends around me.  I had a team of 14 walkers for the 2009 event and am looking forward to getting ready for the 2010 walk with the first fundraising event of a Pancake Party on March 27, 2010.  Unfortunatly last year I walked with a fever of 103 degrees and landed my fifth surgery shortly after the May event.  But, this year I am coming back stronger than ever!

Many of you know that I have been living with Crohns Disease since I was 17 years old. My disease has been severe since the beginning. I have endured years of intense abdominal pain and infections. I have been through 5 major surgeries and many smaller procedures. My colon and rectum have been removed and I have a permanent ileostomy. This has been my saving grace. Since the ileostomy suregery in 2006 I have been able to sustain a weight over 100lbs and I can finally live day to day without the fear of severe pain.

Crohns Disease runs in my family. You are not only supporting me, you are also supporting my dad Guy, my Aunt Julie and cousin Matt. We each have our own personal stories, but the fear, pain, surgery and acceptance is the same. By supporting me you are also supporting my family, my doctor, my surgeon, my nurses.....I have my own community out there and we all work together to make life endurable.

I have to believe that there is a cure out there; that my children and my children's children will not have to live through the same problems me and my family have had to. Let's work together to benefit the future.
