Here we go again! Team Lizzy 2018
Hello, and welcome to Spring 2018! It’s me again – writing about my next running adventure with Team Challenge and hoping you’ll support me and my fundraising efforts on behalf of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. But really – I’d rather NOT be writing AGAIN about Team Challenge (as much as I love it!) and asking for your dollars and support. If there were a cure for IBD, none of this would be necessary.
But there is no cure. Daily, I’m thankful that Lizzy is doing so well. Her freshnman year of high school is going great. She loves her new school, her friends and has been generally healthy and happy. Having Crohn's disease - to some extent - is an afterthought for her. It rears its ugly head every 8 weeks when she has the infusion of her medication that keeps her disease at bay. But that could change. Crohn’s could be front and center in her life again at any moment. I’m not one to worry too much about the proverbial “other shoe”, but I know it could drop at any time – which would affect all the good things happening for Lizzy now and in the future.
Finding a cure – that’s the ultimate goal. In the meantime, providing doctors with tools and funding to find appropriate treatments for IBD patients is the workaround. Treatments are great, when they work...and for Lizzy, they do! But so many with Crohn's disease don't have a treatment that works. We need a cure so that kids like mine (and adults too) don't have to suffer from this disease anymore.
I hope you’ll consider supporting me this year. Donations are tax deductible! Would you consider donating $10 for every mile I run? How about $5? A donation of any size - big or small – will make a huge difference.
Please help me reach my goal! I want to raise at least $3200 by June 30 and to run for cures in the 2018 Napa-to-Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon on July 15.
With many thanks,
