Goal $2k for Crohn's and Colitis Foundation
My Personal Blog
So very close
It is the Tuesday before race day and I only have 1 run left to go before I go to Chicago to run my first marathon.
Thank you to everyone who donated, came to fundraising parties, and who purchased things from my fundraisers. I appreciate your encouragement and the time and money you put into helping me raise as much as I have this year.
I hope to have a great race day and I hope to come home with a medal from the 40th Chicago Marathon!

The home stretch!
Today, September 27th, is the last day for me to fund raise before the marathon on October 8th and for it to count toward my race day totals. I have met my minimum, but I'm still looking towards the goal.
Inflammatory bowel disease is chronic and painful for those who have it. They often have joint pain, fatigue, and poor vitamin absorption as a result of the disease. Many of the medicines available take down the immune system and the person becomes sick from something that is seemingly innocuous or that wouldn't make someone with a normal immune system ill.
If they can live with this chronic condition for years on end, I can raise money for a few months, and endure 26.2 miles to raise awareness. That's my plan.
Please donate today.
Thanks and I'll try to pop back in before race day with any updates.

Only 18 days until the big race!!!
For most people, it is taper time to get ready for the big race in 18 days.
I didn't make my 20 miler this weekend due to some concerns about my ankle, but I'm back at it today training.
I have had so many people that have contributed to this and I'm just filled with joy knowing how many people were willing to help. THANK YOU ALL!!! This means so much to me and your help is appreciated.
The race is October 8th in Chicago. I'm really excited, nervous, and relieved that it is coming so soon.
If you haven't donated yet, but have meant to, now is the time. Fundraising deadline is September 27th, so I'd love to hit my goal by then.

Back to school
Most kids have been back to school a couple of weeks now. My daughter started her Junior year of high school this morning, two weeks after all of her classmates.
She's doing much better than she was doing and we're all happy to have her back home. The dog was especially happy to see her back and wanted non stop snuggles.
She is going to have a lot of work to make up. We're probably going to need to do a specialized plan for her to catch up. All of these things are minor to the fact that she is finally not in the hospital!
Please consider donating and if you have considered, please do so soon. The race is just over a month away and I'm almost 3/4 of the way to goal! That's so exciting!
Thanks for stopping in! Have a great day!

We're about 11 days into a hospital stay for my teen who has Crohn's disease. While the hospitalization isn't directly related to Crohn's symptoms or IBD, this is an opportunity for me to let you know that more research and more targeted treatments could mean that another mom doesn't have to sit with her sick child in a hospital room.
She has a virus that, with her treatments for IBD, has wrought havoc on her.
She's going to be 17 in a little under 2 weeks. School started Monday and she hasn't been out of the hospital to go.
What started out as thinking was a case of dehydration from a bug has turned into a stay at a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Please consider donating to the Crohn's and Colitis foundation to help with research and education.

Training is in full swing!
This weekend, my long run was 10 miles! It went really well! I'm really excited to up my miles over the next 90 days before the race!
Training for a marathon is great, but doing it while fundraising for Team Challenge makes it even more special.
Please consider donating today or sharing my page on your social media.
Good luck on training for your next big even, too!

Another Fundraiser Complete!
The Beer Tasting for Team Challenge was last night. I didn't have a lot of people, but we had a lot of fun! The winning taste was a grapefruit flavored malt beverage that was a refreshing and "summer" taste. The fundraiser gained $127 for the charity! That's so exciting how people can come together and help me with this effort! THANK YOU to everyone who attended!
That's not the final even for this girl. The Schwan's fundraiser is still active (campaign 32389 on Schwan's Cares) and I plan to have a party with a Keep Collective Rep in July.
Hope you have a great start to your summer and set aside some time to remember those who served and didn't get to return home. Happy Memorial Day!
I'll be running a 1 mile race tomorrow and I have a 4 mile race coming up in June in Peoria! Training is beginning. It's a slow go, but I'm getting out there and that makes me happy!
If you came upon my fundraising site from one of my cards or signs I've been putting up....WELCOME! Please join me on my journey to run 26.2 miles and fundraise for Crohn's and Colitis.

Training is starting!
With the race only about 20 weeks away, training is starting!
I'm challenging you to encourage and support me in my training plan by donating to this fundraiser!
The first weeks will be single digit runs, but soon, I'll be moving in to the double digits to run further than I ever have before!
Please consider a donation today.
*To all of the people who have donated directly, attended an event, or purchased items from the Schwan's Cares campaign: THANK YOU! Your donations are making an impact on the lives of so many people afflicted with IBD and I am so grateful to know you care.

First Fundraiser in the books!!!
Some people attended a wine tasting fundraiser last night. We had a great turnout and raised $216 for CCFA! I'm so happy to have enjoyed such success on my first go at an event.

Welcome to 2017!
Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed ringing in the New Year! Now is the time to donate to my fundraising campaign! Every dollar counts and my goal is $2000! I have a few upcoming opportunities to help me reach my goal that I'll be rolling out very soon.
My first announcement of the new year is that I'll be logging miles equivalent to the dollar amount of donations I receive through March 1st. I'll split the miles between the elliptical, cycle, and of course running. I would run all of the miles, but my hope is that a lot of money is raised and I'll need to split it up to make sure I'm not injuring my body.
Thanks for reading and I hope you can donate. IBD is something that I hope to be a major part in helping find a cure for.

I have another donation toward my goal! I'm so grateful for a great start to my fundraising effort!
