Welcome to My Personal Page
I was preparing to go to New Orleans in February to participate in the half marathon, but family health crises made it impossible. I'm still fundraising for CCFA and hope to qualify for the Napa marathon. I'm about 1/3 of the way to my goal. I knit thank you gifts for my donors. Some of the items you may see on my Instagram page (corneliaknits) are available, though some are already gone or promised to others. If you feel inclined to make a donation, I'll happily send you a handmade item!
I started knitting in July 2016, taught by my friends Lori and Dave. They patiently taught me and then patiently fixed me errors until I learned to fix my own. I knit through my daughter's Crohn's treatments (infusions) and procedures, and spent the last three months knitting through the daily radiation treatments of another family member. I knit every single day. It's my therapy, and part of the therapy is giving things away!
I am committed to funding research for new treatments and maybe someday, a cure! We can't give up. I am a monthly donor to CCFA's Friends with Guts program and a supporter of Make A Wish, too. Many people don't realize that kids with severe IBD are eligible for a Wish. If you'd like to know more, please feel free to reach out and ask!
Remember, a donation of ANY size will receive a knitted or crocheted gift! Visit my insta and get inspired! Thank you for visiting my page!
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are both major categories of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). IBD affects an estimated 1.6 million Americans. These chronic diseases tend to run in families and they affect males and females equally. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract and may affect any part from the mouth to the anus. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition limited to the colon, otherwise known as the large intestine.
The Mission of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America is: To cure and prevent Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis through research, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these digestive diseases through education and support.
