Welcome! This is why I'm supporting Crohns&Colitis!
I have decided to make a difference in the fight against Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. On July 22, 2018 I will participate in the IRONMAN Lake Placid 2018. This will be a huge CHALLENGE for myself both physically and mentally. I know it will all be worth it when I'm running down the finnish chute to my first ever 140.6 Ironman. Your donations will not only motivate me to the finish, but they will help us get closer to the cure. Won’t you please consider a donation today?
Now that I have your undivided attention,THANK YOU for taking the time to visit my page and listen to my story/reasons I have chosen one of the most difficult ironman races as my first 140.6 to raise awareness for Crohns and Colitis. It was 2004 and I was just 13 years old and starting high school. I was sick and fighting for my life for my life not knowing what was wrong. It took a few months of being put through many tests and screenings to be able to diagnose me with a disease not many knew much about. Things got better as the crohns was becoming controlled, I was able to get well and graduate highschool then college. Then in 2013 or so I started having issues with my crohns which lead surgery. The medicine wasn't working, we tried a new route called remicade which is an IV treatment I go through now every 8 weeks and it's working great. In 2015 I found what started my active role it was a 5k for crohns this is where I first learned about team challenge. I found myself getting into triathlons and just then and there I realized I needed to help find a cure doing what I have fallen in love with. This is my reason I have chosen to stand with team challenge to benefit a great cause to find a cure not for I, but for the kids that are experiencing the same as I once did.
So please stand with me to help kick Crohns & Colitis for good, every little bit helps.
Here,s a little about Crohn’s And Colitis
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are both major categories of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). IBD affects an estimated 1.6 million Americans. These chronic diseases tend to run in families and they affect males and females equally. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract and may affect any part from the mouth to the anus. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition limited to the colon, otherwise known as the large intestine.
The Mission of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America is: To cure and prevent Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis through research, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these digestive diseases through education and support.
