Dan's Chicago Marathon Fundraising Page!
For the past six years I've been supporting the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation through my participation in Team Challenge, having completed six half-marathons and two triathlons. During this time I've met and run with many amazing, resilient people who are affected by Inflammatory Bowel Disease and who I now have the privilege of calling my friends. As you probably know, my sister Ali has also lived with Crohn's disease for most of her life. In their honor, I've decided to kick things up a notch for my ninth event and take on a full marathon, continuing in the fight against Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. On October 8, 2017 I will run in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. This will be a big undertaking, but it will all be worth it because your donations will not only motivate me to the finish, but they will help us get closer to the cure. Please consider donating to this important cause today.
Additionally, for the past two and a half years, I have also served as a volunteer member of the Board of Trustees of the Rocky Mountain chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. I have been putting forth extra time and effort above and beyond my Team Challenge training to help plan and execute various other chapter fundraising events and activities throughout the year. This year, my wife Jodie and I have been chosen as part of the top 50 volunteers in the 50-year history of our chapter, an honor that will be celebrated at our annual gala fundraising dinner in the fall. We would both be especially grateful for our supporters to mark the occasion with a donation to my fundraising efforts for the marathon. Hitting my fundraising goal of $3,000 would put us over the $50,000 mark lifetime for our total support of the Foundation.
Donations are tax-deductible and 80 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to support the mission of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.
About Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are both major categories of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). IBD affects an estimated 1.6 million Americans. These chronic diseases tend to run in families and they affect males and females equally. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract and may affect any part from the mouth to the anus. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition limited to the colon, otherwise known as the large intestine.
The Mission of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is: To cure and prevent Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis through research, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these digestive diseases through education and support.
