Mark Alexiou's Crohn's & Colitis Fundraising Page
Last year, I ran my 28th half marathon in the hopes my fundraising will help find a cure for Crohn’s disease & ulcerative colitis, which are painful, medically incurable illnesses that attack the digestive system. I ran those 13.1 miles in honor of my brother Matt, who lives with, and has suffered from Crohn's disease for the last decade. In addition to honoring Matt, I run for the nearly 1.6 million others who fight against these horrible conditions. I am a member of Team Challenge, a fundraising program for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). My race this summer and fundraising effort are a challenge for me but pales in comparison to the challenges people with these illnesses endure on a daily basis. Every year we are getting closer to a cure and I hope the end of Crohn's and Colitis is near.
I hope you will join me in this fight against Crohn's and Colitis and make a donation. Any amount will help and whatever you give is 100% tax deductible. I know we all get asked to donate to a variety of causes so I appreciate any and all support for this special, and very personal cause. Please feel free to share this with family and friends.
Thank you for your support and encouragement. Together we can win this fight.

About Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are both major categories of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). IBD affects an estimated 1.6 million Americans. These chronic diseases tend to run in families and they affect males and females equally. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition limited to the colon, otherwise known as the large intestine.
The Mission of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America is: To cure and prevent Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis through research, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these digestive diseases through education and support.
