    Many patients feel they are alone in their struggle with IBD, not knowing how to explain IBD to others. Take Steps EMPOWERS patients and families while offering a safe and welcoming environment to CONNECT and INSPIRE one another. Walk day is filled with music, food, kid’s activities, local entertainment and most importantly, the company of hundreds of people who truly understand the impact of IBD.

    We can’t wait to see you Saturday, June 10th - rain or shine (we’re hoping for sunshine!) - at our Take Steps Walk at Midland Beach – Ocean Park Splaza. 

    Schedule

    -Check-in will open at 10:00 AM
    -Opening Ceremonies will kick off at 10:40 AM
    -Walk will begin at 11:00 AM

    NEW Walk Site - NEW Walk Route  The Staten Island Take Steps Walk will be at the Midland Beach – Ocean Park Splaza.  Traveling instructions and parking information can be found at the bottom of this email.

    The walk will take place on the boardwalk and will be approximately 1 mile from the Start Line back to the Finish Line.  

    $100+ Raised Gets You…   In order to raise more funds towards our mission, we’ve instituted a new incentive for $100 fundraisers. While anyone is welcome to walk with us, only those who have personally raised $100 will receive a Take Steps t-shirt, pennant flag and access to the refreshment area with food.  Patients and children under the age of 13 will receive these incentives regardless of fundraising.  Need help hitting $100?  Contact us!

    Check-in  Check-in opens at 10:00 AM. You can deposit offline donations of cash/checks you’ve collected, make an additional donation by cash/check/credit card, register additional participants on your team, and receive a coupon to collect your qualifying incentives (t-shirt, rally towel, and silicon cup) from the Incentives tent.

    Education, Support & Advocacy Do you have questions about your or a loved ones’ diagnosis? Stop by the Education, Support & Advocacy (ESA) tent to speak with trained individuals and gather new information.

    While you’re there, sign up to become a Citizen Scientist!  As a Citizen Scientist you can participate in groundbreaking IBD research studies and submit research ideas. You can even register right now at www.ccfapartners.org.

    Why Do You Walk?   Read notes from fellow walkers and please share your own words of hope on our walls of inspiration at the Why Do You Walk tent.

    Kids’ Activities   Everyone loves to play corn hole right? Well, we’ve got it for you and we’ll have lots of other fun and interactive games and activities for kids (and grown-ups!) to enjoy.

    Team Challenge & spin4   When the going gets tough, the tough join Team Challenge & spin4. Check out our Team Challenge endurance program and run a marathon, or join spin4 and pedal your way to finding a cure. Test your skills with our ‘Toilet Bowl Toss Game’, throw the roll through the hole and win prizes; beads, water bottles, shopping bags and more!

    Are You IBD-Aware?   Do you know how many Americans are currently living with IBD? Spin the wheel and test your knowledge, you’ll be amazed at what you might learn! Win fun prizes; cell phone credit card sticky and more!

    Team Banner Decorating   Make your team stand out and walk with pride! Decorate a team banner at the Team Banner making table.

    Team Photo Area   Strike a pose and get your picture taken at our fun photo area, we’ll have fun photo props to choose from, so make sure to stop by.

    Refreshments Tent   Food provided by Beyar’s Market, Deep River Chips and Ener-G Pretzels.  If you raised $100, get a wristband at Check-in to access this area.  Patients and children under the age of 13 will receive a wristband and access regardless of fundraising.   *If you have any special dietary needs, please feel free to bring your own snacks with you

    Restrooms   We’ve made sure to have easy access to restrooms at the walk site and along the walk route.  Watch for directional signs to guide you are ask our volunteers who will be wearing bright yellow shirts.

    EMS & First Aid   Need medical assistance, our EMS & First Aid personnel are on-site stationed near the site entrance right before the Check in area and ready to assist.

    The address to put into your GPS is 660 Father Capodanno Blvd, Staten Island, 10305.  The parking lot for the event is on the corner of Seaview Avenue and Father Capodanno Blvd.
