Take Steps Honored Heroes represent the Crohn's disease & ulcerative colitis warriors living in our community. They share their story of life with IBD to raise awareness and inspire others to join the fight against digestive diseases.

Stephanie Sanders - "This year, I am extremely grateful to be awarded the title of Honored Hero at the walk. I look forward to showing others affected by these diseases that life does go on with Crohn’s.  For example, I have been married for over 20 years and am a proud mom of 16 year old twin boys. I am actively involved in my school, my church and my community.  This disease that can be debilitating when you least expect it, does not define me. There is nothing I can’t do because of my Crohn’s."

Brandon Nathanson - "After a series of tests Brandon was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at the age of 11.  After all of his tests, we got news of just how much damage the Crohn’s caused. Eventually he will have to have surgery for the narrowing and scar tissue on his small intestine.  Although Brandon is in remission, he lives a constant struggle everyday with fatigue and physical exhaustion.  Some of his medications are to blame for the way he feels at times.  He tries to push through it and be as normal as possible.  He doesn’t want his disease or medication to control him and win.  Through it all he always holds his head up high and pushes through the bad days.  He is such a fighter and he is OUR HERO!"
