Long Island, Take Steps to Find a Cure!

Join over 1,000 expected registered participants for the Long Island Take Steps Walk.  Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis is a great way to bring together your friends, family, and community to fundraise and walk to spread awareness of what these diseases are, how many Americans are actually affected, and get closer to finding a CURE!

NEW PATIENTS often find forming a team is a helpful way to make talking about their disease to their  family/social circles less overwhelming and isolating.

PATIENTS THAT HAVE BEEN MANAGING THEIR DISEASE over the years find forming a team and participating is a great platform for their loved ones, who often times feel unable to help during difficult flares or disease management, to roll their sleeves up and spread the word in the community, fundraise in their honor, and walk beside one another in a truly rewarding way!

The team's "captain" will work hand in hand with Suzanne their local walk manager every step of the way from setting up the team's fundrasing page, setting a fundraising goal, to coming up with email templates and  personalized fundraising plans.

So what are you waiting for? Register today and Let's Be Heard on June 9th

Meet your Shining Star!

Jack Sullivan 2

My name is Jack Sullivan and I am excited to be your 2013 Shining Star! I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in December 2009 at the age of 10. All of a sudden my world changed! Due to severe hip pain, I couldn’t run or play any sports. I began to get additional symptoms that caused me to lose an extreme amount of weight. It took some time to diagnose and I had to miss a lot of days from school for doctors’ appointments.  Finding a treatment that worked for me wasn’t easy and took several months. Now three years later, I am finally feeling great and back to playing sports without any pain or sickness.  Some of my favorites are: lacrosse, basketball and football.

FUNDRAISING TIP/MATCHING GIFTS: Have you been matched?

Matching-gifts are an easy way to significantly increase the impact of your contributions. Many companies around the country donate funds to match gifts made by their employees to non-profit organizations. A dollar-for-dollar match is common, and some companies will even contribute up to two or three dollars for each dollar an employee gives.  Some even match gifts made by retirees and spouses!

So what are you waiting for? Ask your company today if it offers a matching-gift program, and request a matching-gift form. Send us the completed and signed form via mail, email or fax and we will do the rest.
