Metro Detroit Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis

Get ready, Metro Detroit!!  It's time to Take Steps to Find Cures

Our Take Steps walks offer a wonderful day for family, friends and the community to celebrate all of the efforts that have been put forth in raising funds towards our mission.  Our walk events are filled with live music, food, kids’ entertainment, educational materials, and, of course, wonderful exposure for our corporate partners.

Take Steps for Crohn’s & colitis is a family friendly community walk dedicated to raising awareness and mission-critical funds for cures for digestive diseases.  In the past five years alone, we succeeded in bringing together over 100,000 people and raised close to $40 million to help further CCFA’s mission.

80 cents of every dollar raised goes towards breakthrough research, public and professional education, and patient support services in communities across the nation.

Register today. Join thousands of others in the fight against digestive diseases.

WHEN: Saturday, June 21, 2014

9:00 AM Festival Begins

11:00 AM Walkers Walk!

WHERE:  Meininger Park in Downtown Royal Oak - 600 Maxwell (North of 11 Mile Road / West of Washington, behind Royal Oak Middle School's Football Field.)

HOW MUCH IS IT TO WALK?  There are no registration or entry fees because we want Take Steps to be accessible to anyone who wishes to Walk with us, however.....

Take Steps is a vital fundraising program that relies on fundraising support from every participant.  We encourage EVERYONE to help in the fundraising efforts and collect donations under their own name.  Our goal is for 100% fundraising participation from every walker.  Please help us reach that goal.

Registered participants may make a "self donation" when the register and promote the event and their fundraising goal to friends, family and coworkers.  While many will exceed this amount, it's suggested that each participant raise at least $25 for CCFA. We can't find the cures without the fundraising efforts from EVERYONE!

WHO SHOULD REGISTER?  Every person who is walking with us should register on this website.  There is a waiver associated with each registration, which is required.  Help us plan for a successful event by registering EVERY PERSON on the team.  Be sure to answer all the questions, including shirt size and ages!

  • I'm having issues with your website:  Please use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.  Please do not use nternet Explorer when navgating the Take Steps website.
  •  Who are checks payable to?  Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America or CCFA.
  • What are "Team Donations?"  If a supporter visited your team page and opted to make a donation on behalf of the team rather than a specific walker, those are noted as Team Donations.  Those particular donations will be credited to the Team Captain's fundraising efforts.  Sorry, we are not able to "move" those donations around to individual walkers.  Please advise your donors to select a specific walker to contribute to from here on out.
  •  I have a bunch of money collected.  Where should I send that?   Please send checks made payable to CCFA to our Michigan Chapter office with a note that indicates who we should credit the donation to and note the DETROIT Walk.  Send to:  CCFA Michigan Chapter - 25882 Orchard Lake Road, Suite 102 - Farmington Hills, MI 48336.  If it's later than Thursday, June 19, 2014 please bring donations to the event.
  • How do my donors get receipts?  A few ways.  If they give you cash or check, just print this receipt and issue to your donor.  If they make an onilne donation, they are automatically emailed a receipt.  (The participant is also notified when a donation is made online, on their behalf.)
  • How long is the Walk?  It's a three-mile, non-competitive route with two short cuts within that three mile loop.  Visit the Event Details page on the Take Steps Website to view a map of the route.
  • Where is Meininger Park? Meininger Park is located at 600 Maxwell in Royal Oak, MI.  Nestled nicely in a residential area, Meininger Park is on the corners of Maxwell & Farnum, South of Catalpa, West of Washington, in Royal Oak, Michigan.  Visit the Event Details page for a map.
  • Where should we park?  You may park on any of the streets near Meininger Park or at Royal Oak Middle School.  Please carpool when possible and watch for city parking signs!
  • Is it okay to bring my dog to the Walk? YES! Please make sure your doggy is leashed and cleaned up after :)
  • If my friend doesn't want to walk the route, is that okay?  Of course!  They can simply hang back at Meininger Park with us while you're on the route.  Walkers are only gone about 45 minutes if they go the entire three miles.  They'll be fine with us back at Meininger Park!
  • Does everyone on my team get a Take Steps T-shirt?  Anyone who raises $100 for CCFA will receive a T-shirt. The Team Captain can check in the entire team and distribute the shirts to their team.
  • Can we make our own team t-shirts? YES! And signs, too!  Many teams will incorporate a team theme and rock the walk with some flare... Even if you have your own shirts, anyone who raises $100 for CCFA will get a Take Steps shirt.
  • My friend called the morning of the Walk and she isn't registered. Can she still attend Take Steps? YES! We will register her for the event.
  • Toilets - are there enough toilets?   We thought of your needs and there are plenty of potty stops along the route.  Between businesses in Royal Oak who are supporting this event and strategically placed porta-potties, we gotcha covered!!
  • Why is it important to register everyone on my team?  So we can plan to feed everyone!!!  We will not have enough food, water and fun if we don't know how many are going to attend!  Please register everyone on your team today!

We'll have a Kid's Corral with tons of activities for the little ones.  We'll be having a Swag and Raffle Tent again this year!  Be sure to tell everyone to bring along some cash, checks or plastic to participate!  If you have a raffle item you can contribute, please contact Heather!  We'd love to feature your business in the raffle tent!
