Fundraising Tips
Take Steps at School
Are you looking for ways to get your school involved in Take Steps? Consider using one of the ideas below!
Organize a Class Fundraiser Encourage each grade level or class to compete against each other by bringing in cash and coins during a four week time period. The grade level or class with the highest amount raised each week will win a small prize the grade level or class with the highest total amount raised at the end of the four weeks will win a pizza party or top prize decided upon by the school. Use our CCFA coin canisters to make it even easier!
50/50 Raffle Host a raffle at the Friday night football or basketball game. Sell tickets for $1/piece or 6 for $5 and be sure to announce the raffle throughout the evening in order to increase ticket sales. Near the end of the game, choose the winning ticket and publicize the amount won by the winner and the amount donated to CCFA!
Organize a Penny Wars Fundraiser Ask a group of 4-5 teachers to join your Penny Wars fundraiser by putting their name on one of the collection jars. At the end of the “war” the losing teacher will get a pie in the face or some other activity in order to increase the competition for your favorite teachers to win.
The “war” will continue for five days pennies count as positive points, silver and cash count as negative points. Each day, the school can make an announcement on who is winning and who is losing the war to increase the excitement.
Get your PTA/PTO involved Ask your school’s PTA or PTO to consider hosting a fundraiser for CCFA. Come with ideas, like creating a cookbook to sell to the parents and at school events, or organize a group of volunteers to assist with gift-wrapping during the holidays at a local mall.
Host a Fun Run or Sports Tournament at your local school Work with the physical education department to coordinate a fun run at the school or a 3-3 basketball or 16” softball tournament. Have participants collect pledges for the run or charge an entrance fee for all teams and spectators attending the tournament. This is a great way to teach philanthropy to the students and encourage physical fitness!
Tailgate with Take Steps
Now that Football Season is kicking off, gather up your friends to enjoy the game…and fundraise too!
Host a Tailgate at your house or the game You can provide the snacks and/or your TV, and your guests can get signed up for Take Steps and each make their initial fundraising pledge as their “contribution” to the BBQ
Keep Score Add some fun to the game by having a contest... make a donation for every point scored by their favorite team--or BOTH teams!
Or have a pool to guess the final score of the game, charge $10 per chance to enter. Have a small gift certificate on hand for the winner, or-maybe bragging rights are enough.
Get your company involved
Expand your Take Steps network by getting your company involved. Corporate teams are an easy way to increase fundraising and have fun while working on a great cause!
Dress Down Fridays Ask co-workers to donate $5 to wear jeans on Friday. CCFA will provide you with stickers that people can wear promoting the cause!
Plan a Social Event Get your co-workers together outside of work for a happy hour or other social activity. Charge a small entry fee and host a raffle and watch your fundraising soar!
Email Campaign Send an email to your co-workers asking them to donate or join your Take Steps team. Walk day is a great opportunity to get co-workers, friends and family together in a fun atmosphere outside of work...you could even plan your company picnic at the walk!
