Bridgestone KY PR

ONE MONTH LEFT.

The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA)  is delighted to announce that for the months of July and August Bridgestone Retail Operations, LLC (BRSO) will raise money for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis with a nationwide “round-up” program.  BSRO employees and its 2,200 retail locations nationwide, including Firestone Complete Auto Care, ExpertTire, Tires Plus, and Wheel Works, will support the efforts of CCFA through a program that offers customers the opportunity to round up their transactions to the nearest dollar for CCFA.

Take Steps

Join us in Lexington Tuesday August 27th from 5:30-6:30p at Beaumont Library (3080 Fieldstone Way) to learn more about the Lexington Take Steps Logistics Committee

Join us in Louisville Monday September 9th from 6pm-7pm at St. Matthews Library (3940 Grandview Avenue)

As we grow Take Steps in both Louisville & Lexington, we realize we can not continue the growth without creating a Take Steps Leadership Committee.
The committee will have an informational meeting August 2013 to explain the goals and roles, letting everyone decide on what area of the walk they are interested in.
The committee would work with Take Steps Manager and  be responsible for the event logistics, media and recruiting volunteers and revenue.
Everyone on the committee would take a role in one of the areas listed above.

If you are interested in being apart of this growing event, please contact Jenny Silberisen jsilberisen@ccfa.org or (646) 623-2620

Additional information will come out about the first committee meeting in July- to those interested.

Charity Miles

Charity Miles is an App that encourages everyone to be active, while supporting the charity of their choice by making a donation for each mile they run or bike. Bikers earn $0.10 and run/walkers earn $0.25 a mile. After you are done the App tracks your distance and the money earned. The app works with both Androids and iPhones. This has great potential at our walks. It wasn’t easy getting added to the list of charities and took over a year to build this partnership. You can download this app by visiting www.charitymiles.org

Take Action: Speak out for accessible IBD therapies!

Rep. David McKinley (R-WV) and and Rep. Lois Capps (D-CA) introduced the bipartisan "Patients' Access to Therapies Act" (H.R. 460) which would give patients access to treatments, reduce disability, and constrain their health care costs when paying for vital prescriptions.

Goals of the legislation include:
•    Help patients keep their drug costs down.
•    Allow patients to use the drug that their physician has chosen for them.
•    Eliminate unfair cost-sharing practices in commercial health insurance plans and make necessary medications more affordable.
Take action -- ask your representative to sponsor H.R. 460, "Patients' Access to Therapies Act."
