Hampton Roads Youth Activity
Are you looking to connect with other families and kids living with IBD? We know that our volunteers see great benefits from connecting with one another, especially our youth volunteers. Be a part of our first youth activity in the Hampton Roads community on February 2, 2013. Everyone is invited, not only those living with IBD but their siblings as well. We understand this
is a family disease and want everyone to make new friends.

As we kick of 2013 we are excited to announce the continued support of Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center as the Lead Sponsor of the Richmond Take Steps. Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center has partnered with CCFA in the Richmond community for more than four years. As IBD leaders in the Virginia community we couldn’t think of a better collaboration.

The Center for Digestive Health and the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Practice are specialized facilities that offer a full range of diagnostic and treatment services. Designed to offer the latest treatments in a modern, comfortable and professional environment, the clinic also provides comprehensive nutrition evaluation and support. The Center for Digestive Health features an integrated team of experienced health care professionals, including gastroenterologists, surgeons, an ostomy/wound nurse as well as a dedicated radiologists and pathologists. This team focuses on providing the very best care available with the goal of helping patients return to a normal lifestyle as soon as possible. They’re giving patients new hope with advanced surgical procedures and the latest medication therapies. As part of a nationally recognized academic medical center, we are also on the research forefront, studying and pioneering new treatments.

Seeking Mentors
The
Chapter is still looking for mentors for the Power of Two Program. This is a support program where
volunteers provide adults and supervised children with Crohn’s disease
or ulcerative colitis, parents of children with IBD, and other family
members with one-on-one phone or email support.
Seeking Support Group Facilitator
We are currently looking for a new support group faciltator for Winchester, VA. The new leader will be trained by our national office and local chapter.

Staff Update
The Chapter is pleased to announce that we have a new addition to the Team! Michael Krollenberg has joined us as a Team Challenge Endurance Manager. Michael will be concentrating his time and efforts on building a stronger Team Challenge program in Virginia as the chapter gets ready for the Virginia Wine Country Half Marathon. Michael comes to CCFA from Cibitbank where he served as a Citigold Relationship Manager. Michael earned a Masters of Political Management degree from The George Washington University, with a concentration in non-profit management. Help us welcome Michael as we are thrilled to have him join our team!
