9th Annual CCFA Golf Classic
The 9th Annual CCFA Golf Classic proved to be a successful event thanks to the great foursomes, sponsors, volunteers, HFTP and host site Omni International Resort. The event could not take place without the hard work and dedication from longtime volunteer Shelley Porak who once again showed that a day on the links is always better than a day in the office. The 2014 event is projecting to raise a record amount for event that will benefit the Rocky Mountain Chapter of CCFA.
Congratulations to the foursome from ASAP Asphalt & Concrete who took home the first place prize. CCFA Camper Trinady Kufeldt assisted with the putting contest and gave a heartfelt speech during the luncheon portion of the day. Check out the amazing generosity from a wonderful 14-year-old, Rachael Saghi:
"My name is Rachael Saghi and I am 14 years old. Around 10 years ago, my brother was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. He has stuggled with this disease ever since. My adventure started when I saw the CCFA newsletter. It talked about some runs going on to raise money for the CCFA. I wanted to do a run but could not since there was not one in Colorado. I was upset by this but determined to help my brother. This is when my mom suggested that I do my own run for charity. I would run and raise money based on pledges I received from family and friends. I ran over a period of six weeks, running a total of 73 miles. I raised $2,400 and am very proud of this accomplishment. I am thankful that my family has so many caring and generous friends and relatives willing to help. I did this to benefit not only my brother but everyone else who suffers from these diseases. I want you to know that there is something we can all do. For me it was an activity I hate, running. For you it may be as simeple as doing a lemonaide stand. There is hope if we all work together."
The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation is honored to have Rachael's support!!
