Educational Program for College Students

Living With Inflammatory Bowel Diseases

An interactive event for college students in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November, 20, 2013 The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America invites college students living with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) to attend a brief educational program Crohn’s & Colitis On Campus. Consisting of a live and interactive learning session, the program will be presented by a fellow college student living with IBD.

Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are chronic digestive disorders of the intestines. These illnesses are collectively known as inflammatory bowel diseases, or IBD, because many of their symptoms and complications are similar. It is estimated that some 1.4 million Americans suffer from IBD, with approximately 30,000 new cases diagnosed each year.

After attending this informative program, participants will:
•  Understand the logistics of managing college while living with IBD
•  Identify useful resources available to help transition to college life
•  Recognize the importance of eating well and minimizing stress
